We are the New York City Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), an international valuation association that teaches, tests, accredits and refers professional appraisers. ASA is the oldest and only major organization in the United States representing all disciplines of appraisal specialists. Our chapter represents over 200 appraisal specialists with extensive valuation expertise across all appraisal disciplines, including Business Valuation, Gems and Jewelry, Machinery & Technical Specialties, Personal Property, Real Property, and Appraisal Review and Management. We also support, encourage and mentor non-accredited members who are earning their credentials through experience and educational courses.

Chapter President, Nicholas Tzoumas, ASA

CION Investment

Nicholas E. Tzoumas is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation. He is a Director at Cion Investment Corporation in New York. Mr. Tzoumas leads and works on numerous engagements across many different industries for tax reporting, financial reporting, due diligence, research, buy/sell purposes and has also completed valuations and economic damage calculations for litigation support and other purposes. He has written valuation articles for professional publications and specializes in the valuation of equity and debt interests, derivative securities and intangible assets. Nicholas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration from Temple University’s Fox School of Business – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Ronald Gold

Ronald M. Gold, ASA, MRICS – Certified Real Estate

Ronald M. Gold has been actively involved in the appraisal of New York City commercial and residential real estate since 1980.  Assignments have ranged from the valuation of Foreign Governmental Consulates and Missions to the UN to loft and garage buildings, small to mid-sized office buildings, single-family townhouses, cooperative /condominium units and low- and hi-rise office buildings and mixed-use apartment buildings in New York City. Reports have been prepared in connection with matrimonial dispute valuations, insurable value of landmark buildings, estate tax valuations and business dissolution valuation disputes for a variety of law firms, accounting firms, private investors, cooperative and condominium boards, churches of a variety of denominations, the New York State Attorney General’s Office, the New York State Supreme Court, the New York State Surrogate’s Court, the FDIC, The U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the US Treasury Dept., the Internal Revenue Service  and other governmental clients.

He has been qualified and has testified approximately 25  times as an expert witness before NY State Supreme Court, NY, Westchester, Queens, Kings and Bronx Counties  on matrimonial, estate and property damage cases.  Mr. Gold is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of New York.   He organized and co-chaired the first Mock Trial on Divorce Valuation at the  Association of the Bar of the City of New York  (ABCNY)  in 2007. He presented an EXPERT WITNESS Seminar for the ASA in the Spring of 2014. He is an independent US Federal Contractor with the   Internal Revenue Service, US Dept. of the Treasury, US FEDERAL  CAGE #: 6YB18. He is a Member of the Real Estate Board of NY  (REBNY)  Upper Manhattan and Bronx Commercial Real Estate  Committee

Sarit Rapport

Chapter Second Vice President, Sarit Rapport, ASA


Sarit Rapport is a Vice President in the Valuations & Opinions Group at Lincoln International LLC, where she leads valuation and financial advisory assignments. Sarit’s valuations expertise is augmented by her extensive experience working at a Big Four accounting firm. Prior to joining Lincoln, Sarit spent over ten years at Deloitte & Touche LLP where she was a Manager in their Financial Advisory Services (Valuation) Group providing client valuations and specialist services to support the attest groups. Sarit has a particular focus on the valuation of business enterprises and debt valuations as well as alternative and other illiquid investments.

Sarit has performed valuations of businesses, both domestic and international, ranging in size from small, closely held businesses to divisions of Fortune 500 companies. She has performed these appraisals in connection with financial reporting, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, division spin-offs, estate planning and tax planning.

Sarit has also performed intangible asset valuations, including but not limited to, customer intangibles, trademarks and trade names, technology and non-compete agreements. Sarit has performed these valuations in connection with the allocation of purchase price in a transaction as well as for goodwill impairment testing.

Chapter Third Vice President, John E. Rollins, ASA, CFE, CAMS, MAFF

Stout Risius

John E. Rollins is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation. He is a Director in the Dispute Advisory group at Stout Advisory and leads the firm’s Forensic Investigations practice in New York. He provides expert witness services and has extensive experience providing independent advice to trial attorneys and in-house counsel on a broad range of business and financial matters in the context of complex commercial litigation, fraud and financial investigations, and business and partnership disputes. He earned his M.B.A. in Quantitative Finance and Economics at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and his bachelor’s degree at Georgetown University.

Jason Ross

Chapter Fourth Vice President, Jason S. Ross

Jason is a Senior Manager at Empire Valuation Consultants, where he has worked since 2002 and been involved in numerous valuations for a diverse range of industries. His area of expertise includes valuations for impairment testing and intangible assets for financial reporting, including trademarks/names, customer lists and contracts, in process and finished technologies, covenants-not-to-compete, workforces in place, licenses, patents, etc., pursuant to ASC 805 Accounting for Business Combinations, ASC 350 Goodwill and Other Intangible Assets, ASC 360 Accounting for the Impairment or Disposal of Long-Lived Assets.

He also has extensive expertise in valuations for the purpose of estate and gift tax reporting in which he has valued limited partnership interests and limited liability company interests. Additionally, he has experience in valuations for a variety of purposes including stock based compensation (ASC 718), acquisitions, stock repurchases, lending, re-capitalization, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), litigation, fairness opinions and general corporate planning.

Jon Tang

Chapter Secretary, Jon Tang, CFA

Empire Valuation

Jonathan Tang is a Senior Manager at Empire Valuation Consultants and has over a decade of valuation experience. He has extensive expertise in valuations related to complex securities, intangible assets, mergers and acquisitions, and estate planning and has managed numerous engagements for financial reporting, tax reporting, acquisition and divestiture, transfer pricing, ESOP, and general corporate planning purposes. Jonathan has presented on numerous valuation topics including early stage companies, DLOM, option pricing models, cheap stock issues, and contingent considerations.

Prior to joining Empire, Jonathan worked for seven years as a senior engineer in the telecommunication industry. He holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategy from NYU, an M.S. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Georgia Tech, and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from St. Cloud State. In addition, Jonathan is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has passed all educational requirements for the ASA designation.

Armand Musey

Summit Ridge Group –

Armand Musey is the president and founder of Summit Ridge Group, LLC (“Summit Ridge”), a New York-based valuation and financial advisory firm focused on the satellite, media, and telecommunications sectors. Summit Ridge provides valuation and related financial analysis to support corporate transaction due diligence, research for institutional investors, litigation matters, and financial restructuring.

Armand has worked for over 20 years in the financial services industry, serving in various capacities as a research analyst, an investment banker, and as a consultant for a wide variety of clients including corporations, investors, and governmental agencies. He regularly speaks at major satellite industry conferences and has been frequently quoted in leading trade publications and by national publications as an expert in satellite communications finance and in corporate governance. He authored “The Spectrum Handbook 2013,” and his recent industry research has been published in leading law journals.

Armand is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association, the American Society of Appraisers, the New York Society of Securities Analysts, and the CFA Institute. He holds a J.D. degree from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, an M.A. from Columbia University, and an A.B. from the University of Chicago.

Kevin McElroy

Kevin has extensive experience in providing business valuations for clients for various purposes including financial reporting, corporate planning, gift tax, estate tax, and buy-sell transactions. Kevin’s business valuation experience includes domestic and international private equity, hedge funds, investment holding companies, and M&A analyses. A graduate of the Zicklin School of Business with an MBA in Finance, Kevin also holds a BBA in Accounting from Siena College. For over eight years, Kevin has held positions with several regional and national valuation firms, and in his accounting career, he worked as a Controller for nine years at two different companies.
